Every day our hectic lives leave us constantly sick and tired of what’s around us.
Everything becomes superfluous and part of a routine we would like to improve in order to have a perfectly balanced life.
How many times have we wished to be somewhere else, tired of the noises and the people around us?
we long for peace and quiet, even if it is just for an instant.
We can’t always afford the luxury of being parted from our responsibilities, so this constant negation of freedom makes us wish to be in a different place, submerged in silence.
This is what Yulia Adamova‘s Silence series is about (@yuliaadamova on instagram)
The pictures have been shot with an analogic toy camera, with a plastic lense and an expired film. Yulia confirm this choice is not accidental, as they contribute to create a vintage, out-of-time extravagant effect.
The pictures transmit a feeling of light heartedness and carelessness of people on a lake shore can observe, even with their eyes close, life just flowing by.
They are still in their gestures and restricted in their spaces: a bathtub, under a veil, a plastic bag…yet they merge with nature and with the silence that coexists within it.
They are protagonists of their lives, yet this time they are spectators of the world that surrounds them.
In perfect harmony with the calm that surrounds them, their thoughts are born in that calm and do not break it: they float as in a bubble that it is about to shatter, birnging them back to the hectic everyday life..
