This is the tale of slowly walked miles and memorable sceneries. It is a story about how time flows and seasons change, about steps made in everyday life and loneliness. “Light Years” reveals this world to us in 42 photographs.
The narrator is Gianluca Zonza, 25 years old, from Liguria. Through the exploration of routine and the search of new realities, he has found a shelter into loneliness, writing with lights a story that is the result of 5 years’ experience.
His photographs show precise recorded moments analyzed in their deepest and pure feelings.
The result, as the author said, “is the union of quiet images in which loneliness and multitude are blended together” leaving space to the intimacy of the moment.
Gianluca composes this album with photographs that show personal moments and describe his life slowly. Diving into an absolute moment, people and places look distant and unworldly, and allow us to live a fascinating and alienating experience. The observer is being projected into another dimension in which there is no difference between reality and imagination. In it is revealed “a piece of a delicate story that looks back at the past and reflects on the future at the same time”, and also in which “the memories swing from the geographical recognition to the temporal interrogation”.
Going beyond his troubled relationship with photography and embracing its mystery, the author has learnt how to describe the world and himself. “Light Years” tells us about him, the miles he has travelled, the impressions he has investigated, the succession of days.
